Barney & Max. We Believe In Better
The food you give them is a way to show love. Our recipes support their health, happiness, and your moments together.
A Bowl They'll Finish
Barney & Max is crafted for maximum taste - so even the fussiest eaters finish every last bite.
Gently prepared with natural oils to boost smell and taste
From the first sniff to the last bite, it’s a bowl worth running to.
How Is Barney & Max Different?
Most dry dog food brands produce their food in vast quantities at a high heat (Extruded kibble), this can affect the amount of nutirients in the food and be harder to digest versus cold pressed food.
Our food is cooked at a lower heat to help it be better packed with nutrients. Our recipes are made in smaller batches to ensure quality.
Fuel for every wag, walk, and woof
We make food that keeps tails wagging and paws moving. High in human grade meat and fish, each bowl supports vitality, coat health, and long-term wellbeing - so they can live their happiest, healthiest life.
These ingredients are used within our Grain Free Chicken & Sweet Potato range...
Easy To Digest
Traditional extruded kibble expands when exposed to liquid (or in their stomach).
Cold pressed food behaves differently. It tends to gently break down rather than swell significantly. Many owners prefer this, especially for dogs with sensitive digestion.
Made with love, because they love you
The food you give them is a way to show love. Every bag supports their health, happiness, and your moments together.
Our Chief Taste Testers
Barney is the fussy one, if he eats it, it must be good! Max, well he just loves to try anything.

What is cold pressed dog food?
Cold pressed food is made at lower temperatures than traditional extruded kibble.
Many big brands use extreme heat to cook quickly and cut costs. This can:
• Damage some nutrients
• Make proteins harder to digest
• Reduce overall nutritional value
Barney & Max is gently prepared to support:
• Easier digestion
• Firmer stools
• Better nutrient absorption
• A calmer tummy

Where are your recipes made?
Our recipes are made with care in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK to the highest of pet food standards. Our recipes are batch cooked in small quantities to ensure consistency and quality.
Is Barney & Max suitable for sensitive stomachs?
Yes — our recipes are designed to support digestive health.
We avoid common fillers and include:
- Turmeric - Can help improve digestion by stimulating the liver, which breaks down fats and aids in nutrient absorption. Its active ingredient, curcumin, acts as an anti-inflammatory that can reduce bloating, gas, and gastrointestinal issues
- Chicory inulin (a natural prebiotic)
Natural herbs like fennel, sage and thyme - Clearly named protein sources
- No artificial additives
Many customers choose Barney & Max for dogs experiencing loose stools, gassiness or unpredictable digestion.
Is it grain free?
Yes. All Barney & Max recipes are grain free.
Dogs naturally thrive on meat-based diets. Our recipes use vegetables such as sweet potato and potato instead of grain-based fillers
How much should I feed my dog?
Feeding amounts depend on:
• Age
• Breed
• Activity level
• Weight
As a guide, daily portions typically range from around 80g for very small dogs to 700g+ for large breeds.
For best results:
• Split into two meals per day
• Always ensure fresh drinking water is available
• Adjust slightly based on body condition and activity
Full feeding tables are available on product pages.
What age range is it suitable for?
Yes. Our recipes are suitable from 4 weeks old (weaning) through to senior dogs.
Puppies have different feeding requirements based on expected adult weight and age in months — refer to our Puppy Feeding Guide for specific amounts.
